You will be inventing new Speed Measurement and video products. You will be involved from initial concept all the way through the design/manufacturing cycle. You will even have customer contact and help solve customer issues after the delivery of product. Applied Concepts, Inc., is a Plano, Texas based electronics company, with 160 employees, specializing in Radar products, Lidar speed measurement products and Video products. We were founded in 1977 and design, build, and sell all of our own products worldwide.

Our engineering group has developed the largest portfolio of intellectual property in our industry and we are recognized for the excellence of our products. We are looking for ONE exceptional Senior Engineer that can help us to continue our tradition of being both the technological leader and sales leader in our marketplace.

1. You have a very diverse engineering work background (multiple disciplines or multiple technologies)
2. You have a broad skill set
3. You have worked as an engineering consultant for multiple clients
4. You have worked for a small electronics manufacturing company and been responsible for "doing it all"
5. You have experience with prototype assembly & making minor modifications
6. You have experience with manufacturing support & developing workarounds

• A four year Mechanical Engineering degree - Master's Degree in Mechanical engineering is an advantage
• 8 years' experience in handheld or portable product packaging
• 5 years of experience completing and documenting mechanical designs using 3D CAD software and linked data management tools. Pro/E (Creo) with Windchill experience is required; Autodesk Inventor with Vault experience is helpful.
• Ability to supervise technical staff and develop relationships with key suppliers.
• Ability to fearlessly solve problems in any engineering discipline – through others, if necessary
• Ability to create drawings to ASME standards

• Design of injection molded, die cast, machined and sheet metal parts.
• Interfacing with vendors to provide direction and address fabrication questions. Offshore vendor experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with established and emerging synthetic materials
• Familiarity with GD&T, ASME, and ISO processes and standards
• Experience with material investigation and selection, and root cause analysis
• Design of waterproof (IP67) and outdoor equipment housings with UV consideration
• Experience with Product Lifecycle testing (including vibration) & requirements
• Experience with Regulatory Testing requirements is a plus
• Design for manufacturability and producibility
• Hosting design reviews with illustrations and defending design decisions
• Working with marketing and customers to define new products and product enhancements
• Managing development projects, seeing products from concept development to production
• Managing outside contractors and consultants.
• Experience with Document Management
• Experience with issue tracking software
• Experience with EPDM software
