Staff Accountant

Applied Concepts, Inc., is a Richardson, Texas based electronics company, with 180 employees, specializing in Radar products, Lidar speed measurement products and Video products. We were founded in 1977 and design, build, and sell all of our own products worldwide.

Applied Concepts, Inc., the industry leader in police traffic radar, laser, traffic trailers, and in-car video systems, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team.  

If you are a self-starter and have 2 years' experience in Accounting in a manufacturing environment involving heavy volume in a fast paced, yet family environment, then read on.


  • To support the CFO in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare and process entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and equity, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
  • Monitors transactions to ensure they are up to date, accurate, and properly coded for general ledger purposes.
  • Maintains General Ledger files, both electronic and paper.
  • Analyzes and reconciles General Ledger accounts.
  • Daily Bank reporting and processing.
  • Monthly bank statement reconciliations.
  • Assist CFO in forecasting, budgeting, property casualty insurance renewals, and other special projects.
  • Assist with monthly closings, special projects, annual audits and tax returns as necessary.
  • Assist with employee credit card assignment, changes and issues.
  • Audits Fixed Assets and reconciles accounts as needed.
  • Audits sales representatives' consignment inventory.
  • Assist in other areas of the department, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, as needed.
  • Petty cash reconciliations.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.


  • A 4-year degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Must be a perfectionist by nature.
  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail.
  • Responds well under pressure, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Excellent listening, understanding, prioritizing, and writing skills.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Pass a drug screening test.
